Siddaganga seer critical, on ventilator support

Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt is said to be critical. Currently, he is being treated at the Siddaganga Hospital in Tumakuru, Karnataka. The seer is 111 years old and was newly operated upon in Chennai.

Political leaders of the state including BS Yeddyurappa of the BJP, MB Patil of the Congress have reached Tumakuru and are talking with the doctors regarding the health of the seer.

The entrance of the Siddaganga Mutt has been closed and barricades have been put on the roads leading to the mutt.

people have begun praying for the seer’s healing. Shivakumara Swamiji is also known as Walking God in Karnataka. Girl students of the Siddaganga Guru Kula along with their teachers are leading Mrityunjaya Homa for the speedy recovery of the seer.

In December 2018, Shivakumara Swamiji underwent a liver bypass and gall bladder removal surgery at the Dr. Rela Institute and Medical Centre in Chennai.

The 111-year-old Lingayat is being treated for a lung infection which he formed after an operation on December 8, which was carried out to treat his liver and bile duct infection.

Owing to the seer’s fitness situation, former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa canceled his engagements and rushed to Tumkur.

Security arrangements have been made outside the Siddaganga Mutt, where the 111-year-old seer is currently being treated.

Mourning his death, Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy said: “Siddaganga Math seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji passed away at 11.44 am on Monday. The cremation will be done on 22 January at 4.30 pm.” BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa along with other leaders MB Patil, KJ George and Sadananda Gowda were also now at the Math in Tumkur.
